Researcher Terms
Last updated 10 October 2026. Version 2026-10-10.
These terms are for researchers who claim their own profile in ForesIQ. They are short, and we have tried to keep them plain.
If you would rather not take part, you do not have to. Write to pooja@foresiq.com and we aim to answer within 30 days. You can also ask us not to write to you again (section 8).
The short version
- This is free, and ForesIQ will never ask a researcher for payment.
- ForesIQ is an early product and may change.
- Every researcher has a private link to their profile. Anyone who holds the link can open that page, so please do not share it.
- Claiming takes your agreement to these terms and one click. We email a sign-in link to the address ForesIQ holds on file for you. A password is optional.
- What you state must be true and about you. Customers see it marked "Verified by the researcher".
- We may revert false, abusive or unlawful edits and close an account.
- Write to pooja@foresiq.com to close your account or have your profile removed. You can switch on "Do not contact me" in Account at any time.
1. Who this is for
These terms are for researchers who claim a profile in ForesIQ. They apply from the moment you press Claim. They sit beside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we hold about researchers and why.
The profile is about you. You can only claim a profile that is yours. To claim it you need to be able to open the mailbox of the address ForesIQ holds on file for you, because that is where we send the sign-in link.
2. It is free
Having an account and checking your profile is free. ForesIQ will never ask a researcher for payment.
3. An early product that may change
ForesIQ is an early product and it is still changing. Screens, labels and features may change or be removed. We will not always be able to tell you beforehand.
We aim to build more for researchers over time, such as relevant opportunities and a clearer view of your field. None of that is available yet, and nothing in these terms promises it.
4. Your account and your private link
Every researcher in ForesIQ has a private profile link. A person at ForesIQ may send yours to you by email, from a ForesIQ mailbox. The claim and researcher sign-in pages send sign-in emails after someone presses Claim on a profile link or a researcher asks for a link on the sign-in page.
The link opens a page showing the profile ForesIQ holds about you: the research information and professional details shown on the customer profile. It never shows your email address or any customer's notes. Anyone who holds the link can open the page without signing in, so please do not share it or forward it. The page is not listed on foresiq.com, and it asks search engines not to index it.
The link is yours to keep. It stays the same until a ForesIQ administrator replaces it, and it keeps working after you claim. If you think someone else has your link, or you would like a new one, email pooja@foresiq.com and we will replace it. The old link then stops working.
Claiming is one click. Pressing Claim means you agree to these terms (this version is dated 2026-10-10). We then email a sign-in link to the address ForesIQ holds on file for you. The page never shows that address, and it gives the same answer whether or not we hold one. Open the email and follow the link to finish. A claim you have not finished within 15 minutes of pressing Claim expires, and you can start again.
A sign-in link works once and for a limited time. If it has run out, ask for another on the sign-in page. A password is optional: you can set one right after you claim or later in Account, and the emailed link always works as well.
The address on file is held privately. A ForesIQ administrator stores it, from your public institutional page or from you, after checking that it belongs to you. ForesIQ administrators can see the address on file. You see your own sign-in address in Account. It is never part of your profile, and it is never shown to customers or to other researchers. We use it only to send you sign-in links and to write to you about your profile. If it is not your address, or no email reaches you, use the form on the profile page to tell us the address you would like to use. A person checks it before anything changes.
We send sign-in emails from our own server through Google Workspace, and people at ForesIQ write to researchers from their ForesIQ mailboxes, which are also on Google Workspace. So Google handles your email address and the email itself in order to deliver each of these emails.
Your account is personal to you. Please do not let anyone else sign in as you. If you think someone else has used your account, email us at pooja@foresiq.com.
5. What you can do and what you tell us
After you claim, you have your own dashboard with three parts. My profile shows the profile ForesIQ holds about you, and is where you can state your current position, education and career history. Explore lets you look up other researchers. Account shows your sign-in email, lets you set or change a password and download your profile data, and has a "Do not contact me" setting.
What you state must be true, and it must be about you. Please do not enter details about another person, and please do not enter anything you know is false or misleading.
You can state your current position (employer, city, state or region and country), your education and your career history. Anything you leave unchanged keeps the details ForesIQ compiled from public sources. You cannot change scores, bands or labels.
Explore shows other researchers as a compact list: name, institution, research areas, ForesIQ Score band and momentum. You see a band, not a full profile. Each account can be shown up to 500 rows a day, and there is no export. Please use Explore to look people up, not to collect or republish what you see.
The download in Account is your profile as ForesIQ holds it. It is not a copy of everything we hold about you. To ask for that, write to us (see section 8 and our Privacy Policy).
Where a profile shows research signals, they are built from published research we already hold and are shown as plain descriptions. You can ask us to correct or contest a signal by writing to pooja@foresiq.com.
6. Who sees what you state
Your statements are shown to ForesIQ's customers, who are organisations using ForesIQ to find and understand research talent. They are marked "Verified by the researcher". That label means you have reviewed and confirmed your profile. It does not mean ForesIQ has checked each statement.
Researchers who have claimed a profile can see a short summary of yours in Explore: name, institution, research areas, score band and momentum. Customers and other researchers do not see your email address or your private link. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle information about researchers.
7. When we may step in
We keep a record of the changes made to a profile. ForesIQ may revert or remove an edit that is false, abusive or unlawful, and may end an account that is used in breach of these terms. When we do, the details ForesIQ held before your change return to your profile at once, and the "Verified by the researcher" label goes from anything that was reverted. Where we can, we will tell you by email.
8. Closing your account, removing your profile or asking us not to write
You can ask us to close your account, or to remove your profile, at any time. There is no button for it yet. Email pooja@foresiq.com from the address ForesIQ holds for you, or tell us enough for us to find your profile. We aim to answer within 30 days. When we close your account, the details ForesIQ held before you claimed return to your profile, the "Verified by the researcher" label goes, and we delete your account, the record of your edits, your sign-in email and the address ForesIQ holds on file for you. Your private link stays, and your profile stays, unclaimed. If that email address already had another ForesIQ sign-in, it stays but no longer has researcher access. Removing a profile also deletes the account, the record of your edits, the address on file, the private link and our internal log entries about you. Section 6 of our Privacy Policy explains what is kept afterwards.
If you would rather not hear from us, switch on "Do not contact me" in Account, or write to us. We then keep a one-way code of your address (never the address itself) and leave that address out of the list our people use to write to researchers. The code stays on record after you close your account, so that we can keep the request, until you ask to be contacted again. It does not stop the sign-in emails you ask for.
9. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ForesIQ and the researcher account are provided "as is" and "as available". ForesIQ makes no warranty that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete or accurate, and disclaims all implied warranties and conditions. Nothing here limits any right you have under privacy law or any liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Toronto, Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them, except where the law of your country gives you the right to go to a court there.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms by posting a new version here with a new date and version. This is version 2026-10-10. Questions can be sent to pooja@foresiq.com. ForesIQ, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
